Be Careful What You Think About!

Everything starts with an idea, a notion, an impression, a thought and it's been said that what you think about eventually forms what comes to pass in your life. Or put another way - you are what you think (you become what you think about).

Think of this aside from your business/career. If you begin thinking of someone of the opposite sex and continually think about this person, eventually you will end up talking to this person, flirting with this person and if you're not careful .. dare I say, having an affair with this person!

However the flip side of this negative thinking is this. If you can think, ‘I am SO good at this job, I can do this! I am going to go from strength to strength in this position', then the chances are that your positive mindset will propel you forwards.

What we need to be aware of is that our thought life and thought processes are all a matter of our own free will. In other words, what we choose to think about is up to us. Yes, that's right - you CHOOSE your thoughts.

You can choose to think positive, good thoughts or you can choose to think negative, wrong thoughts. Either way - you and only you can have charge over your thought life because no other person knows what you are thinking (unless they can read your mind!).

A scientific equation has been developed that explains how our thoughts can be turned into reality and it reads as follows:

Intensity x Duration = Force

The interpretation of this equation is this. The intensity of your thought multiplied by the amount of time you think about it, equals the chance of it happening or not.

For example, I firmly believed that I could change my annual salary into a monthly one. I continued thinking it day after day, I worked hard at it with passion and enthusiasm and you guessed it... I achieved what I set out to do. However, if I had not had those thoughts and concentrated hard on achieving them I would still be earning my monthly salary on a yearly basis.

If you don't believe you are brilliant at sales and that you can't achieve a 90% success rate, you never will. But if you put the above equation to work in your life you can begin to achieve your 90% sales success. If you can believe you are at brilliant at selling... your mind is in the right mode to make it so!

If there is one great piece of advice I can give you today it would be this... 'iron sharpens iron' (a proverb from the Bible). In other words, get around good people. Be around people who will build you up, who will believe for the best in you, who will encourage you to up your game. Be around like-minded people and you will go far. Stay as far away from negative people as you can.

When I wake up one of the first things I say to myself is this... ‘Today is going to be an extraordinary day'. Go out looking for great things to happen to you. Go about your day expecting good things to happen and great people to come along your way. Believe for good things to happen. Believe for new introductions. Believe for referrals. Believe that you are going to achieve something great. You get out of life what you put in. Put in positivity and great thoughts and you'll get it back. You reap what you sow. If you reap goodness and positivity, expect to sow it as well

Think about what you're thinking about. Where are you in your life at the moment? In your career? If you are in a position that you find difficult, uninspiring and negative - think about getting out. Life is too short to be negative and unfulifilled. Start filling your mind with the things you want to do, the things that you are passionate about, the things that you are gifted in, the things that make you get out of bed in the morning, and then do something about going after and getting them.

You can be or do whatever you set your mind to. Try it! There's a challenge for you! Put feet to your thoughts. Thoughts require actions to come to pass.

Let's let the Bible, a treasure trove of wisdom, have the last word on this one.

"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - THINK about such things."

Philippians 4:8
