Day 16 - Daily Activities to Build Your Online Reputation

daily_tasksDeveloping a reputation can happen by accident. Developing a GREAT reputation, with the right influence on the right people is usually a planned and earned achievement.

In this ongoing series of daily blogs over 90 days, I'm taking you through my experience of a relatively anonymous profile online to a compelling, prominent name in my area of expertise - REPUTATION.

After a couple of weeks of 'dallying' with various networks and learning various skills, I've decided on three to invest into. It's said that you can do anything, but you can't do everything! Motivational speaker Clive Gott taught me the phrase 'pick a lane!'

You learned yesterday (Day 15) to set appropriate goals and make plans to achieve them. Here is my activity grid for three networking platforms, featuring up to eight tasks I'll be doing with each one on a daily basis.

Task Twitter Ecademy LinkedIn
1 make 20 tweets (updates) enhance my profile invite 10 people to connect
2 do 20 retweets learn a new feature do 3 daily updates
3 follow 20 extra people invite 10 connections write a testimonial for someone
4 work to master one new tool/app 'like' 5 profiles clear my inbox
5 check my stats do 3 daily updates make 7 invitations
6 contribute to my keyword searches work to master a new tool/app contribute to to my clubs/groups
7 contribute to or write a blog work to master a new tool/app
8 write a testimonial for someone ask or answer a question

Now how much time do you suppose each column would take to complete? How about an hour? Two hours? If it's three house, that's a nine hour day to complete the tasks on all three networks. That would assume I have nothing else to do - no clients to work with, no emails to answer, no calls to make or take, no leads to follow, no meetings to attend and no deals to close.

That's not realistic. So it may be that I spend a day on just one network, or do 2 to 3 tasks on each. it may be that I try to do as much as possible by weaving time into the nooks and crannies of my day. I'll be letting you know how it goes!
