Day 6 - Devising an Online Networking Strategy

http://www.fredcavazza.net/2008/06/09/social-media-landscape/Day 6 of my 'Zero to Hero' 90 day online social media experiment. Here's a question.

If I devote 2 hours a day to social media for 90 days, am I best focusing on (and mastering) one medium such as twitter, or spending a little time on a number of online sites?

I've been doing a bit of everything. Sometimes it seems like an overwhelming task. Just when I thought I'd mastered Ecademy, I realise I know little about how to really network online in a strategic way. I'm going back to basics with some reading about how Ecademy came about and how social media really works.

Another thing I'm realising is that only a small slice of social media is about social networks! Take a look at this image, which came from here. It's a brilliant snapshot on just how complex it is out there.

So here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to interview some experts, record them and put them up here on this blog. So who do you know who:

  • Is using social media really well?
  • Talks and writes about social media?
  • Is an expert at building profile and networks online?
  • Is a thought leader in social media?
  • Gets paid to consult and coach on social media?

Let me know, and I'll connect with them to see if they'll share some of their tips, insight and expertise. There must be a few people who can make sense of this intricate landscape?

I know a few - let's line up some interviews!
